11TH INTERNATIONAL CRIME & PUNISHMENT FILM FESTIVAL
11. ULUSLARARASI SUÇ VE CEZA FİLM FESTİVALİ
26 NOVEMBER – 2 DECEMBER 2021 / 26 KASIM – 2 ARALIK 2021
ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE FOR ALL / HERKES İÇİN ÇEVRE ADALETİ
The annual International Crime and Punishment Film Festival, organized by the Criminal Law and Criminology Research and Application Center at Istanbul University Faculty of Law, will be held for the 11th time between 26th November and 2nd December, 2021. The theme of this year’s academic program is “Environmental Justice for All.”
In this age where environmental disasters affect lives of people more than wars, environmental problems and the climate crisis, in particular, are the primary issues of the world. Drought, floods, and rapidly increasing plastic pollution in the oceans are just a few of current crises that transcend borders. Young activists, non-governmental organizations, and supranational organizations from all over the world are striving to draw attention to and seek solutions to these global issues. Furthermore, the abrupt environmental implications of the COVID-19 pandemic have been put under scrutiny by researchers.
The 11th Crime and Punishment Film Festival will serve as a platform for exchange of inter-disciplinary research on environmental issues. Some prominent topics, among others, include inequality brought about by the climate crisis, prevention of pollution through criminal justice and supranational sanctions mechanisms and the effectiveness of thereof, and ways of awareness-raising with respect to environmental issues. Other crucial and timely topics that will be discussed during the Festival is the increase use of disposable protective equipment during the pandemic, as well as the decline in the production capacity of big industrial organizations, the environmental implications of which are still to be determined.
Paper topics should fall under the theme of the academic program of the Festival as described above, while the sub-themes enumerated below may be regarded as non-exhaustive suggestions.
The academic program is planned to be held on the hybrid mode (face to face and online). However, due to pandemic conditions, the organization committee may change the format.
The format of papers and presentations should adhere to International Congress criteria, presentations being limited to 20 minutes speaking time, to be delivered in Turkish or English. Those who wish to present papers are requested to submit:
