INTERNATIONAL GOLDEN SCALES SHORT FILM COMPETITION PRE-SELECTION JURY
Yavuz Bingöl was born in Istanbul on October 7 1964 to Yılmaz Bingöl, a literature teacher in Kars / Sarıkamış and to Şahsenem Bacı, a minstrel musician in Kaes/Sarıkamış. Due to his father’s occupation, he continued his education in various cities. He started school in 1970 in Kars Digor. In the second year, he left secondary school and entered the Ankara State Conservatory Piano Horn-section with a high degree. He left the conservatory at the end of 1979 for İzmir and had a break for a period of time. In 1983 he started playing music again. In 1984, he went to military and played music in military clubs in Erzurum and Kars where he had the opportunity to improve himself for about 18 months. During the İzmir Fair in 1987-1989, he accompanied various famous artists with his instrument, bağlama, such as Huri Sapan, Hakkı Bulut, Belkis Akkale, Hulya Suer, Bergen, Ibrahim Tatlises, Zekeriya Ünlü and Muslüm Ergen. Together with his musician friend, Nihat Aydın, he established the band, “Grup Umuda Ezgi”, and played protest music for seven years. In 1995, he left the group and began working on his first album, “Sen Şarkılar Söyle”. Having attracted great interest, this was followed by other albums, “Baharım Sensin”, “Gülen Az”, “Sitemdir”, “Unutulur Herşey”. Later on, he stepped in cinema with his performance in “Cumhuriyet” in 1998 and “Salkım Hanım’ın Taneleri” in 1999. In 2008, he featured in “Üç Maymun (Three Monkeys)” directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan. In 2013, Yavuz Bingol co-starred in a TV series, “Karagül”, with Ece Uslu, Mesut Akusta and Hilal Altınbilek.
Korhan Bozkurt is a director living in Istanbul. He has begun his career in 2004 by shooting commercials and music videos. His first feature film is “O Kadın” which he wrote and directed in 2007. Korhan Bozkurt, who is also a musician, is an amateur photographer.
Born in İstanbul. Studied Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at Kocaeli University. Being in school theater club she had participated as an actress in a UNESCO awarded theater project which was put on stage in collaboration with Germany, Israel and Greece. She acted in many different theaters including İzmit Municipality City Theaters, Theater Hayal Et and Osman Cavci Theater. She assisted theater master Genco Erkal in Dostlar Theater. She was selected for the Talent Campus of 14th Sarajevo Film Festival. Acted in different TV serials, short films and many commercials such as Pepsi, Burger King, Atasay, Calgonit, Beko, Eti, İş Bankası, Turkcell, Siemens etc. Also acted in feature films Romantik Komedi and Talisman (Muska). She’s currently acting in theater master Ferhan Şensoy’s Nöbetçi Theater, Theater ŞenAy and Theater Kedi. She does and teaches aerial silks acrobatics. She was administrative manager of theater workshops in Nazım Hikmet Foundation. She is the chairwoman of Contemporary Circus Artists Association, founding member of Actors’ Union of Turkey (OYUNCULAR SENDİKASI) and founding member and General Secretary of Actors Collecting Society (BİROY) for copyrights.
ULUSLARARASI ALTIN TERAZİ KISA FİLM YARIŞMA JÜRİSİ
He was born in İzmir in 1953. After graduation from İzmir Türk Koleji, he completed his undergraduate degree at Dokuz Eylül Univesity, Department of Economics. After dabbling with theater and cinema for a while he took a step to professional life with Afife Jale which is directed by Şahin Kaygun, and Hiçbir Gece which is directed by Selim İleri. He played important roles in three television series which are directed by Veli Çelik: Kedi, Hırsız and Eylül.
He gave lectures at Beykent University, Marmara University, University of Vienna Instıtute of Journalism, Yıldız Technical University and European University of Lefke. He works at Istanbul Bilgi University since 1999. He gives lectures about documentaries and contra films. He ran projects with organizations like Antalya Golden Orange Foundation, Friends of Schizophrenia Association, Foundation of Vehbi Koç, Association for Muscular Diseases, Platform against Mine, Kamer, Purple Roof. He worked on various topics, including disabled people, refugees, victims of violence. He has contra films and documentaries screened at festivals and televisions in sixty different countries. He is the founder and director of “International FIMA Video Workshops” (1990-2000), “International Environmental Scenario Awards” (1998-2000), “Antalya Golden Orange International Short Film Video Festival” (1995-1996). His films have been archived in art organizations in various countries. He has been a juror at many film festivals. In 2013, he finished his documentary which is about a little fisherman’s journey which starts from Antalya through Karaburun, Foça, Ayvalık, Cunda, Güre, Bozcaada, Çanakkale, Kemikli, Mürefte and finishes at Istanbul Fish Market. After working for about seven years together with Kalan Music, in 2014 he finished the “Contrarian Music Documentary” which has about forty important artists.
Being a graduate of Istanbul University, Nilüfer Pebecioğlu she has continued her academic studies at the Department of Foreign Language Education and the Department of English Language since 1986 and also in the Faculty of Communication at the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema since 1993. After she obtained her master’s degree in Measurement and Examination Method (in English) at Marmara University, she got training in Istanbul University Vocational School of Social Sciences Department of the European Communities and University of Cambridge Royal Society of Arts DOTE. Nilüfer Pebecioğlu obtained her Ph.D degree from the Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema at Istanbul University. She participated in numerous national and international projects, and published papers, articles, research papers and books in education and communication.
He was born in İstanbul in 1973. In 1991, he started his undergraduate degree at the School of Economics in İstanbul University. After three years, he passed to Mimar Sinan University Department of Motion Pictures and Television. From 1991, he started to work as a Production Executive at documentaries and soup operas. He worked with Osman Seden, Yusuf Kurçenli and Hüseyin Karakaş. In 1996 he shot his first short film, “-1”. Henceforward he started to shoot video clips for Turkish rock and pop music stars. The music authorship, which started as a hobby for him, became occupation of him. He wrote critics about electro and alternative music in newspapers and journals, which were Milliyet, Radikal and Turkisch Daily News and Max and Roll. In 1998, he shot his second film “Sıfır” in the field of experimental-documentary. During 1998, he also worked in Number One TV Channel as a creative director. In 2000, he started working with Sinan Çetin as a co-director at commercial films. In the meantime he continued to shoot video clips and also continued his works of music authorship.
